Rabbit boarding questions, clearly answered

Shorter stays may be possible, but every booking is charged at Applewood's four-day minimum. A seven-day minimum applies during Christmas and the summer school holidays.

Yes. A 50% deposit secures a confirmed booking. The remaining balance is due no later than 14 days before arrival unless Applewood agrees otherwise in writing.

Applewood shares photo and video updates through WhatsApp or Facebook during the stay, so you can see how your rabbits are settling in. Updates are not sent on a fixed daily schedule; timing depends on the care needs of all guests.

Email Applewood as soon as possible. Administration charges and staged cancellation terms apply, and date changes depend on availability. Read the current boarding terms before booking.

Bring each rabbit in a secure, hard plastic carrier that can be cleaned and disinfected. Fabric carriers, sports bags, cardboard boxes and homemade carriers cannot be accepted.

Bring enough of your rabbits' usual pellets or dry food for the whole stay, plus dry forage if that replaces pellets in their normal diet. Applewood supplies Timothy and meadow hay, fresh herbs, a few healthy treats and safe apple or pear twigs.

Every rabbit must have in-date protection against myxomatosis, RHD1 and RHD2 for the full boarding period. First vaccinations and overdue boosters must be given at least 21 days before arrival. Routine boosters must be given at least 8 days before arrival.

Yes. Male rabbits must be neutered, and female rabbits aged six months or older must be spayed unless a different arrangement has been discussed and accepted before booking. Bonded pairs and groups must be living together without fighting for at least three months.

Yes. Applewood understands that occasional accidents happen in a new place, but cannot board rabbits with no litter tray training.

Oral and topical medication can sometimes be given when discussed and agreed before arrival. Injectable medication is not offered. Medication and veterinary support may involve additional charges, and written veterinary authorisation may be required.

Applewood will try to contact you or your emergency contact and will arrange veterinary attention when needed. In an emergency, treatment will not be delayed while waiting for a reply. Owners remain responsible for veterinary, travel and additional care costs under the boarding terms.

Rabbit guests continue to receive care on public holidays, but arrivals and collections are not offered on those days. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day carry a 50% surcharge.
